Dystech winner 🥳
Applicants are asked to submit ‘Business Plans’ which need:
- to be innovative;
- to address the education sector;
- to clearly articulate the impact;
- to demonstrate the effectiveness of the business idea; and
- to prove a clear understanding of the market.
The submission, interview and presentation by Hugo Richard CEO & Co-founder impressed the judging panel consisting of Ryan O’Hare, Pauline Farrell, Warwick Freeland, Georgina McCann and Angelo Nardozza. The judges commented that a product that can do mass screening for dyslexia should find a market. The submission included a strong business idea with many monetisation options, a well-articulated plan, product roadmap and execution ideas.
Dyslexia is a learning disability that impacts reading and writing ability. Early assessment is critical in order to make appropriate interventions. Traditional assessment costs between $1,000 and $2,500 and can take up to one year to diagnose. Dystech is a SaaS DIY mobile app that costs under $100. The innovation will help children with dyslexia, as well as children who have difficulty reading and writing by disqualifying dyslexia as the cause.
As the winner of the 2019 EduGrowth LaunchPad Business Start business plan competition, Dystech receives $5,000 grant to further the business, one year EduGrowth Membership, one hour mentoring session with an EduGrowth mentor, $10,000 AWS Hosting Credits and will represent Australia qualifying for the semi-final round of the GSE Milken-Penn Business Plan Competition in 2020.
